This article details various glitch meta-map scripts for the Power Plant and Route 7's gate in Pokémon Red and Blue. The script is controlled by memory address D663.

At Power Plant

  • 0x01: Special stat encounter script (see Trainer escape glitch)
  • 0x02: Unknown/game does not freeze. Reset to 0x00
  • 0x03: Trainer challenge music followed by invalid opcode (0xEC) at 1F:62DF (freeze, and theoretical rst 38 Virtual Console freeze)
  • 0x04: See 0x03
  • 0x05: See 0x03 (no challenge music)
  • 0x06: See 0x03 (no challenge music)
  • 0x07: 0x03 effect without having to press A or B
  • 0x08: See 0x07
  • 0x09: Trainer challenge music may play followed by a battle sound effect, followed by VRAM execution of 8000 (likely rst 38 freeze)
  • 0x0A: May cause corruption of the player's sprite, tileset, map before a VRAM execution of 8000 (likely rst 38 freeze)
  • 0x0B: VRAM execution of 8000 (likely rst 38 freeze)
  • 0x0C: See 0x0B
  • 0x0D: See 0x0B
  • 0x0E: See 0x0B
  • 0x0F: See 0x0B
  • 0x10: See 0x0B
  • 0x11: See 0x0B
  • 0x12: Arbitrary code execution (D7D3)
  • 0x13: Invalid opcode (0xF4) at 29:63B7 (freeze). On Virtual Console might cause execution of VRAM:8000 (likely rst 38 freeze)
  • 0x14: See 0x13
  • 0x15: See 0x13

At Route 7 gate

  • 0x01: Reset script to 0x00
  • 0x02: Game may freeze with no music, but normal looking screen other than guard missing
  • 0x03: ACE (CBD7)
  • 0x04: Unknown effect/game may not freeze
  • 0x05: Arbitrary code execution (ECH0: EA20 i.e. CA20)
  • 0x06: ACE (CCD3)
  • 0x07: Controls except for Start may lock up unless on menu (can open and close menu with Start successfully)
  • 0x08: Invalid opcode (0xD3) at 0:38EB. On Virtual Console, may not freeze and reset script to 0x00
  • 0x09: ACE (SRAM: AFCD)
  • 0x0A: See 0x02
  • 0x0B: ACE (ECH0: EAC2 i.e. CAC2)
  • 0x0C: ACE (CD3B)
  • 0x0D: ACE (ECH0: FAC9 i.e. DAC9)
  • 0x0E: ACE (D728)
  • 0x0F: VRAM execution of 8000 (likely rst 38 freeze)
  • 0x10: See 0x02
  • 0x11: See 0x0F
  • 0x12: ACE (SRAM: BFCD)
  • 0x13: ACE (D034)
  • 0x14: Invalid opcode (0xD3) at 0:083E (freeze). Possible freeze on Virtual Console.
  • 0x15: Unknown effect/game may not freeze
